The Maoists had kidnapped Patel and his son Dinesh after attacking the convoy of Congress leaders.
Heavy rain in the area is hampering the operations of the security forces.
Senior Congress leader Mahendra Karma was killed and former union minister V C Shukla injured when heavily-armed Maoists ambushed a convoy of party leaders inside a dense forest in Chhattisgarh's Bastar district yesterday.
Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi, who arrived here in the wee hours today, said the party cannot be cowed down by such attacks and will continue to move forward.
"It is not an attack on Congress. It is an attack on democracy. But, we'll not fear from such an attack and continue to move forward with enthusiasm," Gandhi said.
Gandhi also met V C Shukla and other injured leaders at a hospital.
"I met V C Shukla and other injured leaders at a hospital. As soon as his condition becomes stable, he'll be sent to Delhi," he said.
"Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Congress President Sonia Gandhi will also be visiting the state," Gandhi said.

Terrorism and politics in India
Terrorism and politics in India
This attack and killing by Maoists are very danger for Indian democracy, It also proves the present real situation in India.Terrorism has no religion.and it is due to poverty, injustice, discrimination political policy by the government and society. But any how this terrorism
and violence can not be accepted in India and in our civil society. India is a secular democratic country. Many politics parties are here with different political ideology. There are many terrorists groups are active in India. Maoists, RSS , Bodo and Ulfa terrorists in Assam, Naga terrorists in North East India, Hijbul Mujahideen and others some terrorists groups in Kashmir are active in India.

There are many terrorists groups are active in India. Maoists, RSS , Bodo and Ulfa terrorists in Assam, Naga terrorists in North East India, Hijbul Mujahideen and others some terrorists groups in Kashmir are active in India.
But it is very sad and unfortunate that government, most of the political parties and media are very much busy and interested in only bomb blast , Islam , Muslims , Pakistan and terrorism in Kashmir. Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Shivsena Hindutva parties are very much active against Pakistan and terrorism. They are silence about others terrorism in India.. They are so blind that they find everything wrong in Islam and Muslims. They never not try to understand and realize the reality in India and also do not want to know the root causes of terrorism injustice, poverty , discrimination , communal politics and Hindutva politics.
BJP condemns Maoist attack on Congress leaders, It is very strange and a new form of terrorism politics by BJP president Rajnath Sing, He told that whether it was Naxalism or Terrorism. What a politics!May be he is trying to it tag in Islamic terrorism!
BJP ,Shiv Sena are very busy with dirty communal and propaganda politics and they are trying to poison everything in India. National Congress party and others local political parties are busy with vote bank politics. Most of the political parities have forgot national interest. They have forgot main issues in India like poverty (about 30% peoples live in below poverty level), high population growth, poor education system, health problems, drinking water crisis, femicide, child labour, violence ,communal riots, violation of human right , caste system, social injustices, status of women etc.
Treat the criminal case and terrorism as a crime. It is very unwise and injustice to tag crimes and terrorism with a particular religion especially Islam. All crimes should be punishable according to the existing law. But it is very sad and unfortunate that most of the media ,some political parties , some peoples would like to tag in Islam only just after any violence, bomb blast. It create a new problem in India. How they know immediately just after bomb blast or any attack that it was done by Indian Mujahedin , Islamic terrorists without any proper investigation just after any accident and media published the news immediately? It is so strange and purposeful and degrading to Islam and Muslims. It is happening in India today and still continuing the tradition. They want to established that terrorism and Islam are same matter. If you respect your religion so why they degrading the Islam only? Its not fair and not good sign for civil society. Good peoples, political parties, government ,should have duties and responsibilities to make the world peace for public intere
